You have to be really good to get by in garage-rock’n’roll-soul these days, as there is minimal airplay and little media interest in independent bands, but hey, yes, The Dustaphonics are really good, they get airplay in Europe and US, on BBC Radio, Oui Fm, Le Mouv,etc.. have been album of the day on Spanish national radio RTVE Radio 3.
It all started around 2008 when Tura Satana, lush favorite actress filmmaker Russ Meyer and star of the cult classic Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, met London based French producer Yvan Serrano and invited him to compose some songs for the soundtrack for her next film.
Dustaphonics have since been shaking up London’s famous music venues such as The Forum, 100 club, Jazz Café, Borderline, O2 Brooklyn Bowl, Islington Assembly Hall, Blues Kitchen. Storm festival stages such as Latitude Festival (UK), Lille Vintage Weekender (Fr). Festival Relache (Fr), Purple Weekend (Sp), Les Nuits Secretes (Fr) have opened in London for The Sonics, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Wanda Jackson, James Hunter, Kid Congo, Sam Gopal, Jim Jones Revue, Barrence Whitfield, Lisa & The Lips, Gallon Drunk, Sanseverino, Space Cadets and have been “on a mission from God” with legendary actor and Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd, who occasionally uses The Dustaphonics as the backing band for his private London shows.
With a unique, excitingly energetic feel good party groove sound that distills such wide-ranging influences a, 50s R&B, 60s garage rock, vintage soul, blues, surf and 77 punkrock and a diversity reflected in the London band’s cosmopolitan make-up.
Together they bring a new energy and a positive vibe far from simple imitators, which makes Dustaphonics songs remarkably fresh and distinctly modern, with a production sense that carefully preserves the passionate rawness of the music, offering the best possible sound to both purist vintage music fans and those who want something fresh with a young pretty face.
